Jurnal Pelita Nusantara : Kajian Ilmu Sosial Multidisiplin
Vol. 3 No. 3 (2025)In this issue, the journal presents a special theme focusing on the study of Islamic astronomy (ʿilm al-falak) within the context of the dynamics and challenges that have developed in Indonesia. This thematic focus is based on the recognition that falak practices in Indonesia are not merely concerned with astronomical aspects, but also intersect with religious, social, and institutional dimensions. Accordingly, the articles published in this issue seek to explore a range of strategic issues in Islamic astronomy—from the methodologies used to determine the times of worship to the discourse on authority in the establishment of the Hijri calendar—by positioning Indonesia as the primary empirical context of analysis.
